Evaluation Skates for 2013 Squads

The Winnipeg Emperors is an all asian hockey club based out of Winnipeg that competes in the annual Asian Hockey Championships ( every year in Toronto during the May long weekend. This year’s tournament is set for May 17-19, 2013. The tournament is now entering its 23rd year and expects a turnout of 55 teams and over 800 players competing in 6 mens divisions, 1 womens division and 2 kids divisions.

The hockey club has grown from 1 squad in 2011 to 2 squads in 2012. For 2013 we are looking to grow by 1 more squad to ice a A, B and C Squad to represent the club. The club is structured in a way so that it is an open resource for all asians interested in playing hockey as growing up in Canada, hockey is not usually a supported sport in asian cultures. We are open to all and the goal is to increase awareness to the game and having an outlet where all feel welcomed. With the return of the NHL to Winnipeg there has been an increase in ice hockey players of asian descent and the Winnipeg Emperors intend to support this.

The Winnipeg Emperors Hockey Club will be holding our evaluation skate for squads A and B on Saturday Oct.27th at 7:30pm at the Winnipeg Winter Club. A second evaluation skate will be for squads B and C on Nov.3 at 7:30pm at the Winnipeg Winter Club. There are no plans for cuts, but simply to place players in the right environment.
